Ted Mosby 45 Days Speech and the end of How I Met Your Mother

Every now and again I’d watch a show on TV and notice something that stands out to me. Last night I was watching the latest episode of How I Met Your Mother – Season 8 Episode 20… The episode took place mainly in McLaren’s and sees Ted and Barney’s future versions attempt to persuade present day Ted to go see Robots Versus Wrestlers. Marshall and Robin have a dance-off and Ted Mosby gives a speech to his future wife… The “Ted Mosby 45 Days Speech”

Over and above the antics that the group get up to during the episode, Ted realises that he is actually all alone. Barney and Robin are busy planning their wedding and Marshal and Lily are busy with their new lives as parents. Hang on to the roller-coaster, I’m going deep here.. Because, it’s at this point that Ted said something that I believe is something we can all take to heart… “Life is short & if you ever come across a beautiful, exciting crazy moment in it, you got to seize it while you can before the moment’s gone.” And then Ted went on to give this speech to the future Mrs. Mosby:

Ted Mosby 45 Days Speech

Here’s the speech, all typed out for you too:

Hi, I’m Ted Mosby and exactly 45 days from now, you and I are gonna meet and we’re gonna fall in love and we’re gonna get married and… we’re gonna have two kids. And we’re gonna love them and each other so much. All that is 45 days away but I’m here now I guess, because I want those extra 45 days with you. I want each one of them. And if I can’t have them I’ll have the 45 seconds before your boyfriend shows up and punches me in the face because… I love you. I’m always gonna love you till the end of my days and beyond. You’ll see.

As a die-hard How I Met Your Mother Fan, you can’t help but realise that the show is coming to a close… And, despite the criticism the show has endured recently I’m definitely going to be sad to see the show go. The show is that LEGEN-wait-for-it-and-I-hope-you’re-not-lactose-intolerant -DARY that it’s been running for the last 8 years and has seen the likes of Nicole Scherzinger, Katy Perry, Sarah Wright, Sarah Chalke, Jennifer Lopez, Joe Manganiello, Bryan Cranston, Britney Spears, Judy Greer, Bryan Callen, Jorge Garcia, Wayne Brady, and my personal favourite, Rachel Bilson to name just a few guest stars.

Things like “The Playbook,” “The Bro Code,” sayings like “LEGEN-wait-for-it-and-I-hope-you’re-not-lactose-intolerant -DARY” and self-five gratification are all more acceptable and things that came from How I Met Your Mother.

But, sadly you can see that this LEGEN-wait-for-it-DARY show is coming to an end and it makes me sad… Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment said in a release in January that the show will be coming to an end by the end of season 9.

“Through eight years, How I Met Your Mother has mastered the art of leading-edge comedy, emotional water-cooler moments and pop culture catch-phrases… We are excited for Carter, Craig, Pam Fryman and this amazing cast to tell the final chapter and reveal television’s most mysterious mother to some of TV’s most passionate fans,” says Nina Tassler.  She goes on to say”We‘re thrilled to have the entire and incredibly talented How I Met Your Mother cast back for one final season to bring the series to a proper close,” said Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen of 20th Century Fox Television. “Carter Bays and Craig Thomas are masterful and hilarious storytellers, and we have no doubt that they will guide one of the greatest comedies of the last decade to a gratifying conclusion when they finally reveal the identity of the Mother.”

So I do believe there are 4 more episodes of season 8 left… Thereafter the final season, season 9. Sad times ahead!

‘Till later…

Always remember, give a jackass an education and you’ll have a smartass!

Signing out.
