Core Group, Apple distributors for South Africa, released the prices for the highly anticipated New iPad. The prices aren’t as high as I initially expected when I initially posted the article on the launch date confirmation of the 3rd gen iPad.

Apple has confirmed that the new iPad will be available to purchase on our South African shores from the 27th of April 2012. In an image on the iPad page on the Apple South Africa Website, the launch date is confirmed at April 27th.
Since the new [3rd generation] iPad’s launch in the US on the 16th March 2012, stats show that the new iPad already take up about 11% of total iPad ownership. With roughly 3 million new iPad’s being sold already, I’m sure South African consumers will add to that figure!
Let’s talk prices
Although prices have not yet been confirmed, judging by the trend shown internationally and with the iPhone 4S South African prices too, I think it’s safe to say that we can expect the prices to be similar to that of the iPad 2 when it was initially launched in South Africa... Read More

I got this email recently about the new e-toll systems that have come up around Gauteng…
These “e-toll” systems are means of charging road users on the N1, N3, N12 and R21 in the Gauteng area by being “tolled by means of electronic and automated methods, thereby eliminating the need to queue at toll plazas. This automated non-stop method of collecting toll is referred to as e-toll.” (Extract from the e-toll website)…
There are some stories I’ve heard about why these tolls were put up. How true they are I’m not sure, but basically the reason is because the South African government borrowed money to build the 2010 soccer stadiums and this is their way of getting the money to pay back whoever it was they borrowed the money from.
Whatever their idea is and reasoning behind putting up these tol... Read More
The title of this article is slightly sarcastic… But here is why:
I recently got my iPhone 4S. Very excited to set it up and get it working, I went to my service provider, got a mico-sim and went home to set it up. I put my micro-sim in and tried to set up the iPhone, only to hit a problem when iTunes tries to activate the phone, with the following error:
Could Not Activate iPhone
Frustrated, I started checking what the cause of the issue could be. I noticed that the sim-card didn’t seem to be active and the iPhone kept showing “Searching” where the signal should be displayed. Eventually I tried using a different micro-sim and used my father’s Vodacom micro-sim and the process went through and I was able to set up my new iPhone.
While I was syncing all my content to my iPhone, I put my Cel... Read More
