If you’ve been following the local music scene, went to the Bon Jovi concert in Jozi this last saturday, or even been tuning into 94.7 Highveld Stereo‘s Kia Take40Sa, by now you should have heard about Daniel Baron. Maybe you’ve even heard some of his music… But have you heard one of his latest songs? With an awesome colab with ProVerb on a song from Daniel’s debut album entitled “It’s Time” comes “Not Here” – Daniel Baron feat. ProVerb. If you haven’t heard it, it sounds a little something like this. . .Read More
Maybe you’ve heard about this… Maybe you haven’t. But death is no joke, especially when it can be prevented or avoided by just having some sense of responsibility. According to an article by IOL, 864 motorists were arrested while driving under the influence during the Easter Season… It’s about time that we start to drive dry.
I’m not saying that people shouldn’t go out and have fun, but rather that people who go out don’t drive if they have had a couple of drinks. I’m saying that we have all heard stories about things that happened to people while driving under the influence… Maybe you’ve nearly ended up in a situation like that, or been in that situation yourself?
What I’m getting at is the awareness, and the spreading of the awareness to help at least just one person have that ligh...Read More
This past Sunday was the third of the 947Unplugged events at The Venue in Melrose Arch – The 947Unplugged with Elvis Blue and Stuart Reece thanks to 94.7 Highveld Stereo and Real Concerts… No, this wasn’t an Elvis tribute concert, like the story Elvis Blue related during the show, it was an Elvis Blue unplugged session, with Stuart Reece opening up the night.
With Mark Pilgrim as MC for the night, the venue filled with fans and friends and a close, intimate setting, Stuart Reece and Elvis Blue played some of their best songs, with some new songs in the mix too. Despite having a baby girl only a few days before, Elvis Blue put in an excellent show, even coming back to perform 2 more encore songs for the fans.
Another awesome night, as expected thanks to 94.7 Highveld Stereo and Real Concer...Read More
Last week this time I was at The Venue in Melrose Arch with 94.7 Highveld Stereo
and Real Concerts… And we all went wireless, yet again. Yup, I was busy having a blast while Daniel Baron and Dan Patlansky were rocking out on stage, unplugged (See where I get the “wireless” thing from now? No? Anyways, tally-ho-James)…
With The Venue sold out and a capacity crowd packed in between the stage and available bars, Daniel Baron opened the show with 6 songs from his album, “It’s Time”, with Dan Patlansky showing the crowd what he can do on a guitar… And trust me, this guy can play a guitar, while playing some songs off of his new acoustic album “Wooden Thoughts.”
You missed the show? Well, first of all, shame on you!… But, there are two more events are on the way… Next in the line-up for the 947U...Read More
This past Sunday I got to attend 94.7 Higveld Stereo’s first show of the 947Unplugged series of shows happening at The Venue in Melrose Arch.
This first event featured Zander Tyler, better known as Jack Parow who took to the stage to perform for his fans in a slightly different setting… An unplugged live session. With an opening act by Die Tuindwergies and an awesome show by the mad hatter, Jack Parow himself, the first night of the 947Unplugged events, in association with Real Concerts, Computicket and The Venue Melrose Arch set off to an epic start.Read More
Every now and again someone comes up with an idea that smells a bit fishy. But when Rhapsody’s Brooklyn came up with this idea a little while ago, the fishy idea led to something genius and resulted in a Rhapsody’s Sushi Workshop at Rhapsody’s Brooklyn.
Last night I had the opportunity to attend Rhapsody’s Brooklyn’s 4th sushi workshop and I decided more people need to know about the awesomeness that happens at these workshops and hopefully ignite the inner sushi chef inside someone.
Rhapsody’s Sushi Workshop, how it works…
I was told to never play with my food, so I went Asian.

Sushi should be something fun, exciting and creative and that is exactly what master sushi chef JC Duarte accomplishes with his sushi workshops...Read More
In the build-up just over a week ago, 5Gum alluded to the reveal of the latest #5GumExperience. In news that broke last week, it became official… The Kooks will headline the #5GumExperience that will be hitting Jo’burg on 19 April in and Cape Town on 20 April.
It’s not every day you just decide to do a Guinness world Record, especially something that requires you staying awake for long periods of time, just ask @BraaiBoy about his world record. But, after a couple of months of planning, 94.7 Highveld Stereo radio DJ Alex Caige and Tuks FM DJ Cassy Clarke are attempting the #TuksFMRecord.
They are attempting to break the longest team radio broadcast in history, by hosting a radio broadcast from a van for 75 hours in Hatfield Square. The record attempt began on 15 March, and will be ending shortly tonight, 18 March.Under permanent video monitoring and video stream via Ustream, all the documenting footage and logs of the times they left the van to go to the toilet or something will be sent to Guinness officials, who will moderate everything and val...Read More
As you may or may not know, 5Gum delivers the longest lasting flavour and a unique taste experience with their gum with flavours like Turbulence’s mouthwatering watermelon, Electro’s tingling spearmint and Cobalt’s cooling peppermint… But that’s not what I wanted to tell you. I have something a bit better…
Park Station 3D video mapped projections by Étienne de Crécy and mesmerising melodies of Irish indie rockers at venues such as an abandoned cement factory in Philippi, and the haunting beats of A-trak and HudMo are a few of the highlights of the growing movement that is the #5GumExperience over the Halloween weekend in 2012, powered by sensory stimulating chewing gum brand 5 Gum.
That’s still not what I wanted to tell you… Fiiiiiiiiine, here it is…
Rumour has it that ...Read More
On Friday 26 October, after working on the CD for the last 3 and a half years, the wait was finally over for Christiaan Kritzinger who debuted his new CD “Mal Vir Jou” at the Aula building in the University of Pretoria.
