Model Shmodel… Be One

I don’t know about you, but I’m not very fond of the camera. That, and it doesn’t seem to like me. I never know what to do, how to smile, more teeth? Fewer teeth? I just never know. But clearly it seems I’ve been doing it wrong.

A friend of mine from a company called Talent Box contacted me about a shoot they’re doing in association with Premier Hotels and Resorts on the 8th of June 2013, and maybe you’d like to go? It’s happening at Premier Hotel OR Tambo. It’s a full package and a full day, with a team of photographers and creative directors, 2 wardrobe changes and 2 hair and makeup changes, as well as 30 fully edited images for you to keep afterwards.

The entire gig costs R3 500 and is a pretty shweet deal considering what will all be happening on the day...

Get a Dryver… From SPAR

Last week I wrote an article about the “Drive-Dry” campaign and promoting the “drive dry” attitude amongst friends, family and fellow countrymen of South Africa. After writing the article, I was contacted about a new app from SPAR, called “Dryver” and thought you might like to know a bit more…

Dryver – The Social Media Network that Gets You Home Safely

As you may know, TOPS at SPAR have more that 500 stores across Southern Africa and are known for their edgy marketing and advertising campaigns. This led them to launching, a SA first, social network incorporated and innovative new app aimed at people who are out and over the legal drinking limit, but don’t want to drink and drive.

With the new zero drinking limit legislation imminent, TOPS at SPAR has taken the lead in addressing the issue,...

I Drive Dry, Why Can’t You?

Maybe you’ve heard about this… Maybe you haven’t. But death is no joke, especially when it can be prevented or avoided by just having some sense of responsibility. According to an article by IOL, 864 motorists were arrested while driving under the influence during the Easter Season… It’s about time that we start to drive dry.

I’m not saying that people shouldn’t go out and have fun, but rather that people who go out don’t drive if they have had a couple of drinks. I’m saying that we have all heard stories about things that happened to people while driving under the influence… Maybe you’ve nearly ended up in a situation like that, or been in that situation yourself?

What I’m getting at is the awareness, and the spreading of the awareness to help at least just one person have that ligh...

Ted Mosby 45 Days Speech and the end of How I Met Your Mother

Every now and again I’d watch a show on TV and notice something that stands out to me. Last night I was watching the latest episode of How I Met Your Mother – Season 8 Episode 20… The episode took place mainly in McLaren’s and sees Ted and Barney’s future versions attempt to persuade present day Ted to go see Robots Versus Wrestlers. Marshall and Robin have a dance-off and Ted Mosby gives a speech to his future wife… The “Ted Mosby 45 Days Speech”

Over and above the antics that the group get up to during the episode, Ted realises that he is actually all alone. Barney and Robin are busy planning their wedding and Marshal and Lily are busy with their new lives as parents. Hang on to the roller-coaster, I’m going deep here....

After Happily Ever After

You know how it goes with a Disney movie, the damsel in distress needs a proverbial(and sometimes literal) knight in shining armour to save her. The two fall in love and they live happily ever after, right? Have you ever wondered what happens after happily ever after?

I happened to stumble onto this YouTube video, by a user who goes by the name of “Paint” . In his video he focuses on the story after the happily ever after for Pocahontas, Ariel, Belle and Jasmine.

This video thoroughly made my morning, check it out here:

NASCAR Driver Jeff Gordon Pranks Car Salesman

If you’re a car salesman and you have someone showing interest in a car you know they will love and you can make some great cash on the deal, you’re obviously going to be willing to take the car out for a test drive with the prospective client. If  you are such a car salesman, remember to buckle up whenever going out for a test drive, because you never know when you might be caught out like this guy, when NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon pranks a car salesman.

When Jeff, disguised with some nerd looking glasses, a Pepsi-can mounted hidden camera, makeup and a fake beard suggested to “Buckle up”, he clearly meant it! The unsuspecting salesman, eager to make a deal on the Camaro to a gent who currently drives a ‘minivan’, casually started with his sales pitch as “Mike” pulled out of the parking lo...

Friday Stress Test

Want a quick Friday stress test? I am not sure exactly how it works, but this is amazingly accurate. You have to read the rest of the article first, before looking at the picture.

The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. Don’t look yet! You need to know the background first.  This picture of the 2 identical dolphins was used in at St. Mary’s Hospital, in London, in case study on stress levels.

Now you can look…

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water.

These dolphins are identical.

In the case study done at the St. Mary’s hospital, the closely monitored scientific study revealed that, in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical, a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins.

This research has shown that the more differences a person finds between...

2012 Recap – The Moments that Made 2012

There’s no doubt that 2012 was a year to remember, for good or for worse. Who thought we would see 2013, with the Mayan apocalypse conspiracy and all that? Lying in bed last night and unable to sleep and awaiting the beginning of the work starting on the 7th of January, it got me thinking about the year that had passed and what some of the highlights and lowlights were for me personally, and for everyone as a whole. Some events in the 2012 may have affected, for better or worse, some more than others.

I started thinking of my great-grandmother, one of my good friends Tegan and another friend of mine Jamin who passed away this year… All sad memories...

My Grand Idea (Random Rhyming)

Yesterday I felt a bit down and all
And wasn’t quite sure just who to call.
I felt a bit despondent and down,
Which is probably why you saw me frown.

I ended up going for lunch with my mate,
Fortunately we didn’t need to fish for our food & I never needed any bait.
But we rather went to Cappuccino’s for a pizza
Luckily not all the way in Srebrenica.

We sat there a while eating our food,
Which helped a little to improve my mood.
Then suddenly I got a grand idea…
No, it wasn’t to travel to the Republic of Korea,
But rather to check out the Musica store
And see what new DVD’s might have hit our shore.

It turned out there was a 6 disc Blu-Ray collection,
Which didn’t need much persuading for selection.
So I bought the Avengers collection on Blu-Ray,
Which I would watch on my liqu...
